My Story
A lifelong passion for horses has led me here-
I began my riding journey at age 5, taking lessons at my local barn in Park City, Utah. In my teen years, I competed at small local shows with money I saved babysitting-competing through beginner novice eventing and 1.0m jumpers on a leased quarter horse mare trained for cutting cows and reining.
By high school, with my first horse, a green OTTB gelding named Koda; my focus shifted completely to competitions and training. I knew I wanted more, and I knew I needed to leave my small ski town to find it-
Right after high school graduation I took my first working student position and moved to Maryland with Koda. My plan was one gap year to ride horses, then go to college...One year quickly became five.
Before I knew it, I was grooming for a dressage trainer in Quebec, Canada. In Canada, I fell in love with a Canadian Sport Horse named Mickey. Who was for sale, and by surprise my dad gave me the best gift ever, Mickey!
Once Mickey became my partner, I got to experience training and competitions to the fullest. Togthether we lived in 8 different states. Mickey took me from beginner novice up to preliminary level eventing-he gave me a taste of the magic that is upper level competition.
In addition to being a working student; I have also been a head groom for Clark Montgomery and Sydney Elliott. I have groomed professionally at the 4* Level of eventing at Bromont in Quebec, Canada and at Fair Hill Horse Trials in Maryland. My top priority has always been a happy and comfortable horse.
I would not be the horsewoman I am today if it were not for the time I spent as a groom.
Beyond grooming, I wanted to truly advocate for the horses, and learn how to relieve their pain- this led me to Massage Therapy, studying biomechanics of the horse and rider, and ways to strengthen the horse from the ground. I am passionate about continuing my education, currently I am in a program for Kinesiology Taping and Myo-fascial release.
